Lambo Police Car? Yes Please!

Imagine cruising on the Kesas highway on a lazy Saturday night. Then suddenly, the urge to 'go fast' kicked in and you gun the throttle, pedal to the metal. You are now traveling at approximately 190 km/h, 80 km/h above the regulated speed limit.

Then suddenly, you hear sirens blazing from the corner of your ears. You peeked at your rear view mirror only to see blue and red lights flashing by. Its the cops. Fuck.

You decided to outrun the police; lets assume you are driving some JDM monster like an Evo or a Scooby. How fast can the police go anyway, you told yourself. But what was about to happen next will blow your mind away.

The siren was becoming louder; those oh-so-familiar flashing lights were becoming brighter. With a puzzled look, you stare at your speedo which tells you that you are almost hitting the 200 km/h mark. Then, the police car overtook you.

And the mystery was solved.

The car was in fact a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia. Polizia stands for police in Italian.

Official Lamborghini Press Release

Sant’Agata Bolognese, October 24, 2008 – a private ceremony was held today at the Viminale Palace where Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. donated a police version of the company’s newest super sports car, Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia, to the head of the Italian State Police, Prefect Antonio Manganelli.

The new Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia, which replaces the previous Gallardo in use by the Italian police force since 2004, has a 560 horsepower engine that can reach speeds of up to 203 mph. The car will begin service with the Lazio Highway Police Department in order to continue accident and crime prevention to sustain security on the Italian roads.

The Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia shares the same technical specification of a regular Gallardo, with additional 'toys' to play with.

In addition to its 5.2 liters v10, 552 bhp AWD transplant, the Gallardo is also fitted with the 'classic' array of police equipment, such as a gun holster, police radio equipment and the 'Paletta', the traditional hand-held stop sign used to advise motorists and traffic offenders to pull over. Officers can then use a removable screen to show offenders their misdeeds immediately, complete with an overlay of all the associated data.

I certainly doubt the Malaysian government will splurge that kind of money to upgrade their fleet of police vehicles. But I'm not surprise if they do so anyways *hint hint Perdana gearbox..Mercedes E-Class..*hint hint

Malaysians, we are safe. For now =)

Sneakers Launch Party @ SS15

I was invited to Sneakers' launch party, Sneakers For College, recently. Sneakers, opened a few months back, sells lifestyle shoes ranging from Puma, Onitsuka Tiger, Converse, Adidas, Nike, New Balance and so on. They also carry various t-shirts, bags, caps etc. from different brands. It is perfect for sneaker-heads that love shoes, especially those hard-to-get ones. The launch was good; free-flow all the way baby =)

Quite a number of people came for the launch because they were having this super super sale on all their products. Discounted shoes were further discounted by 20% and non discounted shoes were on sale for 15% less. And it was only for that one day.

While I was browsing the shop, I was contemplating on getting the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 white/blue original colourway.

Everywhere else sells it at RM360-RM390. But it was priced at RM348 with an additional 15% discount just for that day. And plus, the white/blue colourway was quite limited as it is the original colourway for the Mexico 66 model.

Decisions decisions.

Fuck it. Money well spent. Haha =)

The Best/Worst Formula One Finale In History

Everything was going well for Ferrari after the 3rd qualifying session; Felipe Massa was on pole position, the second Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen was third and the dreaded Mclaren of Lewis Hamilton was fourth.

Interlagos Circuit.

The venue for the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix.

It's the final race of the 2008 Formula One season. Lewis Hamilton leads the drivers' standings with 94 points, followed closely by the Brazilian, Felipe Massa with 87 points. 7 points separate them. For Massa to win the 2008 Championship, he MUST win the race and hope something nasty happens to Hamilton.

Even before the race had started, the drama had already begun. Just minutes before the scheduled start, it started pouring. The race stewards decided to delay the start for 10 minutes to allow all teams to change from dry weather tires to intermediate wet tires.

Once the 5 lights were illuminated, the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix was officially commenced. Massa had a comfortable lead in front of the pack while Hamilton maintained his fourth position. The follow-up of the race was relatively routine.

But the drama started at the final 8 laps of the race.

Rain started pouring again, making the circuit completely wet. Most of the teams went in to the pits to change to intermediate tires, except for the two Toyota drivers, Timo Glock and Kazuki Nakajima. Timo Glock pulled an overtaking maneuver on Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton was now in 5th place. He was still save because if he finished in 5th position, he will still be able to steal the 2008 Formula One Championship away from Massa, by 1 point.

Remenicent of last year's championship.

Then, out of no where, Sebastien Vettel, winner of the previous 2008 Italian Grand Prix, overtook Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton was now in 6th position and in DEEP trouble of handing over the championship to Massa.

I was elated and had began my celebration for Ferrari's and Massa's victory. Throughout the season, I was rooting for either Kimi or Massa to win this year's championship, not because I hate Lewis or anything, but I'm just too big of a Ferrari fan.

Massa crossed the line, winning the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix. The Ferrari team was overjoyed, crew members were jumping for glory; hugs and kisses were everywhere in the Ferrari camp. Hamilton had lost to Massa. The Brazilian crowd went wild and cheered on their hometown hero. Everybody had ASSUMED Massa had won the 2008 Formula One Championship.

But there's no such thing as a happy ending.

At the very last minute, Timo Glock, who was ahead of Lewis Hamilton in 5th place, suddenly slowed down due to the lack of grip contributed by using dry weather tires under wet conditions. Lewis overtook Timo at the very end of the lap, just a couple of corners before the finish line.

He finished 5th.

Lewis Hamilton had won the 2008 Formula One Championship. By a single point.

As Massa went on the podium to receive his trophy for winning the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix, he was clearly showing mixed emotions. He had won the race. On the other hand, he had lost the championship to arch rival Lewis Hamilton. This is a sad sad day for Ferrari. At least they still bagged the constructor's title.

I was shell-shocked of what had happened. As I was watching Massa receiving his trophy, I couldn't help to feel sorry for him. Life's unfair. I still find it difficult to digest the events that took place yesterday.

Did Timo Glock really had grip problem? Did he purposely handed the championship to Lewis Hamilton? Was Mclaren involved in this whole fiasco? What about the FIA? These questions won't be answered anytime soon. Till the 2009 season comes. I'm out.

Accident @ USJ 8

It was 4am in the morning. And no, I wasn't looking at the sky for planes. As I was reaching the junction to my house, there it was, an orange Proton Gen 2, upside down, beside the curb. I have spotted an accident.

Being the typical kepoh, I had to stop for a look see. Parked my car; hazard lights on, lit a cigarette and off I went. As I approached the overturned vehicle, I noticed that the situation was even worst than I have imagined.

As you can see, the Gen 2 was TOTALED from bumper to bumper, floor to ceiling; pieces of metal and plastic laying around; shattered windscreen. I wasn't there when the actual accident happened so I don't really know whats the deal. But through my observation, I think the guy was speeding hella fast at the bend, lost control, hit the curb and flipped the car.

To be in that kind of state, the guy was either drunk driving or street racing. Well, It is after all the morning after Halloween. With 16" SSR rims, Neova semi slicks, custom exhaust piping and bucket seats, I think it is obvious what had happened. But who am I to judge.

Speaking of the driver, when I arrived at the scene, he was pretty beat up. He was lying motionless beside the curb, blood everywhere. I swear it looked like a gory horror movie scene. I did not dare to go closer to take a picture of him because I know it wasn't the right thing to do. And plus, blood freaks me out for some reason.

The firemen and policemen surrounded him; so too were curious bystanders. A man was reciting something like a prayer to him. That's when I felt really sick to my stomach. After that, the police carried him to a patrol car and it sped off with three other police cars; sirens blazing and all, presumably to the hospital

I don't thing he'll be able to make it..I really hope he does though. My prayer goes out to him and his family. What an end to a night.

Imagine you're in Africa. You have been tied hanging on a tree with a rope anchored on the ground, a candle is slowly burning the rope, and a lion is waiting for you to drop to be his lunch.

Your survival hinges on the rope being attached; there is no one there to help you. What would you do? Decide on your action before scrolling down for the answer. You'll be amazed.

FROGSKINS by Oakley

Behold my latest craze, Oakley FROGSKINS. If you haven't heard about Frogskins yet, these glasses are as classic as they can be. Oakley created the Frogskins way back during the early 80's; the time when Terminator was in the box office, Run-D.M.C. was rocking the jukebox and the time when the Fresh Prince of Bel Air was considered 'cool'.

Be it work, uni, parties, walks on the beach or simply hanging out, the Frogskins matches any occasion with ease. Pair it with your favorite pair of jeans and a vintage tee; and you're a rockstar.

Today, Oakley has resurrected the classic eyewear, producing limited edition pieces, giving us a chance to own a piece of history. For each colourway, only 3000 pieces will be produced, that's how special the Frogskins are.

If you're like me and you're into the retro, 80's groove, this is a must buy. I'm now on a quest of hunting down my own pair of FROGSKINS =)

Question

Just a random thought; as I was gazing through the blue-ish 6am sky, I saw a plane soaring by. Then it came to me. Do pilots even own watches? You see, they are constantly in the air flying, country to country, continent to continent, I'm sure the timezone difference presents a major factor to consider, no? So my question remains, do pilots even own watches? It must be a pain in the rear for them to keep adjusting the time to sync with the timezone they are in. Or maybe they have some sophisticated 22nd century gadget that automatically detects these changes. I wonder..

(fill in appropriate title here)

I can't believe I'll be graduating from Uni very very soon and be embarking on a relatively unknown journey, aptly named 'career-hood'. Uni has been a wild and fun ride; sometimes I don't even want to leave because I am so damn comfortable over here but gosh, time passes swiftly, don't you reckon?

5 things to look forward before 2008 comes to a screeching halt:
1) Get through my second last semester
2) Iphone 3G
3) The many upcoming house parties
4) Year-end Bangkok/Bali trip
5) Civic EK9 B18c ..click (HAHAHAHA =>)

More updates with (some) overdue pictures will be up soon. Till then.

A Little Something About Andy Warhol

It is possible that some of you might not know him, but to those who know, Andy Warhol is regarded as a father figure in the movement known as Pop Art. I personally am not into the genre paintings and drawings. Its hard for me to appreciate such workings of Van Gogh and Michaelangelo. But I always am a fan of the legendary Andy Warhol.

Born on August 26th, 1928, Andy Warhol, together with Roy Lichtenstein are the great artist of the Pop Art Movement. His artistry has a somewhat distinct style to it, making it famous around the world. Warhol is also a successful commercial illustrator.

My infatuation lies within his paintings that are often monochromatic in form. He would paint the same image over and over again, creating interesting effects by changing the colour of those images and putting them all together in the same picture. His art is filled with bright, bold colours to make them vibrant.

Warhol also made everyday objects seem somewhat important through his simple representation of those objects. Amongst his famous paintings are the ones of Brillo's Soap Pads and Campbell's Soup, which is said to be his all time favourite food.

He is also famous for his paintings of celebrities and famous people such as Marilyn Monroe, Mick Jagger and Che Guevara. Not just mere painting in a conventional way, but painting it while incorporating his own sets of style, making his artwork exert emotion and joy.

Andy Warhol died on February 22nd, 1987 (which coincidently is 3 days before the day I was born). Although the passing of the legend is inevitable, his art continues to influence our culture and society today.

Are You Saying I Am Sexy?

Have you guys heard the recent news lately? According to The Star newspaper, apparently the vice-president of the National Islamic Students Association of Malaysia, Munirah Bahari made a statement saying that the baju kurung worn in schools encourages rape and pre-marital sex, and it should be banned.

WTF.

I have heard so many lame news but this, I can say, belongs all the way up there with all those stupid ones. I mean, how could the innocent baju kurung encourages rape and pre-marital sex?

Take all those previous rape stories for example. Did those rape victims wore baju kurung when they got raped? Have you heared of the case regarding the two girls who got raped by their dad? Did they seduced him with sexy outfits too? Come on man, even small little children can get raped. The statement, according to The Star newspaper, is baseless.

And regarding pre-marital sex, wtf is that got to do with it? So that means the government should also ban baby tees, tubes, spaghetti straps and bikini tops too? Isn't those clothings a heck more revealing than the baju kurung? Why dont't you pay a visit to one of the clubs in KL tonight, I bet it will shock your brains off.

The baju kurung is somewhat a national icon for Malaysia, such as the saree and the cheong sam. To label the baju kurung as 'sexy' and 'a cause for rape' is such a negative notion.

Man's Action Network Against Violence member David Anthony said that the statement is indirectly stereotyping men as people who don't see women as anything other than sex objects. Sometimes these people do not think about the consequences of their actions. If something is abruptly wrong, they ban it, without giving any considerations about better alternatives.

Well instead of banning the baju kurung, how about an idea of making the material thicker or maybe imposing a rule to wear another layer of clothing underneath it? I am appalled.
